Make a quick and delicious red velvet cake for your Valentine.
Ingredients
- 1 box red velvet cake mix
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
- Stir in the vanilla extract. Add red food coloring if desired.
- Frost the cooled cake.

- You can add chocolate chips to the batter for extra flavor.
- Decorate with sprinkles or fresh berries.
