Description
Make classic beer-battered fish and chips at home.
Ingredients
- 1 pound cod fillets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (12 ounce) can beer
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
Instructions
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Gradually whisk in beer until batter is smooth.
- Dip fish fillets in batter.
- Fry fish for 3-4 minutes, until golden brown.
- Fry potato fries until golden and crispy.
- Serve fish and chips immediately.

- Serve with tartar sauce and lemon wedges.
