Description

Make classic beer-battered fish and chips at home.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound cod fillets
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (12 ounce) can beer
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and cut into fries


Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Gradually whisk in beer until batter is smooth.
  4. Dip fish fillets in batter.
  5. Fry fish for 3-4 minutes, until golden brown.
  6. Fry potato fries until golden and crispy.
  7. Serve fish and chips immediately.
