Description
A classic German dessert with layers of chocolate cake, cherries, and whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 1 box chocolate cake mix
- 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Bake the chocolate cake according to package directions. Let it cool completely.
- Slice the cake into layers.
- Spread cherry pie filling over each layer.
- In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Frost the cake with whipped cream.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings.
Notes
- You can add a splash of cherry liqueur to the whipped cream for extra flavor.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least an hour before serving.
