Description

A classic German dessert with layers of chocolate cake, cherries, and whipped cream.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish


Instructions

  1. Bake the chocolate cake according to package directions. Let it cool completely.
  2. Slice the cake into layers.
  3. Spread cherry pie filling over each layer.
  4. In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  5. Frost the cake with whipped cream.
  6. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

Notes

  • You can add a splash of cherry liqueur to the whipped cream for extra flavor.
