Description
A simple baked custard with cherries and almonds.
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Sliced almonds for topping (optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a pie dish or baking dish.
- Place the pitted cherries in the prepared dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, then add the milk, almond extract, and melted butter.
- Gradually whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter over the cherries.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the clafoutis is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Let it cool slightly before serving. You can dust with powdered sugar and top with sliced almonds, if desired.
Notes
- You can use frozen cherries; thaw and drain them before using.
- For a richer flavor, use whole milk.
