Description
A moist and rich chocolate cake made with mayonnaise.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat together the sugar, eggs, mayonnaise, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan before frosting.
Notes
- You can substitute buttermilk for the milk for extra tang.
- For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
