Description

A simple recipe for homemade cranberry-orange sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries, rinsed and picked over
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 orange, zested and juiced

Instructions

  1. Combine cranberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened.
  4. Stir in the orange zest and orange juice.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool completely. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.

Notes

  • For a smoother sauce, you can mash some of the cranberries with the back of a spoon while simmering.
  • Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
