Make these adorable heart print cookies for a sweet Valentine’s Day treat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Red food coloring
Instructions
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
- Mix in the vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the dough in half. Tint one half with red food coloring.
- Wrap each dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the white dough.
- Roll out the red dough.
- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes from both doughs.
- Place the red hearts on top of the white hearts.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- You can use different colors for the hearts.
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
