Description
A simple and delicious homemade Margherita pizza.
Ingredients
- 1 ball pizza dough
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and stretch or roll out your pizza dough to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the dough to a pizza peel or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Arrange the fresh mozzarella slices over the sauce.
- Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and top with fresh basil leaves.
- Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a crispier crust, use a pizza stone or steel.
- You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat.
- Ensure your mozzarella is fresh and not pre-shredded for the best melt.
