A rich, decadent chocolate torte perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Ingredients
- 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
- Fresh berries, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Melt the chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.
- Whisk in the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt.
- Whisk in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft.
- Let cool completely in the pan before inverting onto a serving plate.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries, if desired.
