A festive sugar cookie cake perfect for celebrations.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Frosting of your choice
- Sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the vanilla and almond extracts, then the egg.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the dough in half. Roll out each half to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut out two large heart shapes using a heart-shaped cookie cutter or template.
- Place the hearts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool completely.
- Frost one heart with your chosen frosting.
- Carefully place the second heart on top of the frosted one.
- Decorate the top with sprinkles.

- For a richer flavor, use brown butter.
