Description

A simple cake with the flavor of matcha green tea.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the matcha powder with a little bit of the batter to make a smooth paste, then add it to the main batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
