Description

A delicious red velvet cake baked in a heart shape.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons red food coloring

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, oil, eggs, vinegar, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once the cake is cool, frost it with cream cheese frosting.
