Description

This recipe combines the best of both worlds: a brownie and a cookie. You get a fudgy brownie base topped with a chewy cookie.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Make the brownie batter: In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in vanilla and eggs until combined.
  4. Add flour and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Make the cookie dough: In a separate bowl, cream together brown sugar and softened butter.
  8. Beat in vanilla and egg.
  9. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  10. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  11. Stir in chocolate chips.
  12. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie batter.
  13. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the brownie part comes out with moist crumbs.
  14. Let cool completely before cutting and serving.

Notes

  • For extra fudgy brownies, don’t overbake.
