Description
These Banana Peanut Butter Dog Sticks are simple homemade dog treats made with ripe banana, dog-safe peanut butter, oats, and egg. They bake into soft, rustic sticks that are perfect as an occasional snack or training reward.
Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 2 tablespoons plain dog-safe peanut butter
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup oat flour
- 1–2 tablespoons water (only if needed)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Mash the ripe banana in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Add the peanut butter and egg, then stir until well combined.
- Mix in the rolled oats and oat flour until a thick dough forms.
- If the dough is too sticky, add a little more oat flour. If too dry, add water one tablespoon at a time.
- Shape the dough into short rustic sticks.
- Arrange the sticks on the prepared baking tray, leaving a little space between each.
- Bake for 22–28 minutes, until lightly golden and firm on the outside.
- Cool completely before serving to your dog.
Notes
Always use plain peanut butter that is completely xylitol-free and contains no added sugar, chocolate, or artificial sweeteners. Store treats in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Serve as an occasional treat alongside a balanced diet.
